History of XK120 DHC Registration 241 YUG
Jaguar XK120 SE Drop Head Coupe, left hand drive
Built in June 1953 and sold through Hornburg in Los Angeles USA
Vehicle purchased in unrestored state having been re-imported from the USA – copy of Certificate of Title and Jaguar Heritage Certificate on file. Age related number issued by DVLA in August 2011 – V948 on file
No history exists on the car’s life in the USA and when returned to the UK the opportunity was taken to build the car to a personal specification for use as a touring car. Originally finished in Pastel Green with Suede Green interior trim and fawn hood the choice was made to finish the exterior in Suede Green, with Suede Green interior retained but a black mohair hood fitted.
The car was purchased through the Carriage Company, Jaguar specialists located in Bedfordshire, and the majority of the restoration work carried out by them but with input from other specialist companies as detailed below. As part of the restoration process the chassis (in excellent rust-free condition) was prepared and powder coated and the bodywork was E-coated by SPL in Birmingham. A complete new rear body assembly was supplied by Leaping Cats of Coventry and rectification work and modification to include 12V battery box in the right hand wing (as per XK150) was carried out by their technician.
